Here is a small list of our most regular FAQ's which we will divide into sections, this will be added to as we go along

Boxes

Can I buy a box as a one off purchase?

Yes, you definitely can. We have been doing one off boxes for some time now and are looking forward to doing many more in the future.

I love my box, can I get a regular subscription?

We do have subscriptions so whatever your interests there should be one for you. We also have more options incoming in 2022

I really don't like (romance/crime/sci-fi) is there a way to request genres?

As this site is new I'm not quite sure if there's a notes section when you order, if not you are more than welcome to use the Contact us form once your order has gone through.

I want to buy a box for someone as a gift, can I send it to their address instead of mine?

A bookish gift is always a win in my eyes, we have sent lots of gifts out to people for various occasions while selling on Etsy and as far as I'm aware will still be able to do so on this site.

The Books

Where do you buy your mystery books?

Most of our books are preloved and secondhand, some of these are from ourselves as well as friends and family but most are from charity shops. We do our best to only send out books that we would be happy to receive but sometimes one may slip through the cracks and be of lower quality.

I don't really fancy a second hand book, I want a brand new one. Do you have anything for me?

Yes we do, our New Book mystery packages are always a good option and with those you can choose a genre and we'll find something we think you'll love. Our subscriptions are also new books that have been released in the last year so we hope you'll love them.

I'm not happy with the condition of my mystery books/ I already have them, what do I do?

Unfortunately we know this can happen even though we try our best. If this is the case please get in touch and we can discuss options for moving forward.

Environment and charity

I want to buy a package but I also want to donate to charity, do you have a way I can use 1 payment to do both?

We're so glad you asked, supporting charities is something very close to our hearts and yes you can absolutely do both. The majority of our Mystery boxes contain preloved books purchased in charity shops so you've already supported them without realising if you buy one of those.

We also have 2 charity packages, our date with a POC author and our date with an LGBTQ+ author, where £2 from each sale gets collected and when we have a minimum of £20 we donate it to a charity that fights racism or works within the LGBTQ+ community.

How environmentally friendly are your boxes?

Our boxes are fully recyclable (also loved by pets if you want a new use for them) and also contain tissue paper (compostable) and brown paper (recyclable) any packaging we receive in the post such as bubble wrap is reused in our boxes to get as many uses out of it as possible. Also with the mystery boxes having second hand books in them, we are stopping the books ending up in landfill.

Themed Boxes

Why should I choose your themed boxes over your competitiors?

There are lots of awesome book boxes out there so it's a fair question. My themed boxes contain signed books by independent authors in the UK as well as products from small businesses in the UK. I have found many exciting new shops on Etsy thanks to searching for things I wouldn't have before.

You say themed... what does that mean?

Exactly what it says in the title, for example, my Dragon themed box had a book with dragons, mug with dragons, tin with dragons, candle inspired by dragons... I'm sure you get the picture. I try to do different themes where I can and my Forest themed box has been my best seller of the themes so far.

I'm an independent author in the UK, can you include my book?

We're always happy to work with new authors and promote your work in a way that might not have been possible before, we cannot guarantee that your book will be picked but we will always have a look.

I run a small business in the UK, could I have my products in your boxes?

We are always looking for new businesses for collaboration, we cannot guarantee anything but we are always happy to consider your work.

I am an author/business owner outside the UK, can't I be included?

At the moment we are only working with collaborators in the UK, this is for a few reasons; shipping cost, environmental impact, shipping times etc. In the future this may change but we set this up originally to help promote UK businesses and authors and that is still our current goal.
